Facts emerged yesterday on why the Onido of Ido, Chief Tajudeen Akinola Agura, was suspended and his beads seized by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
The Onido is the Baale of Ido, an Ibadan less city.
It was gathered that the embattled baale allegedly forged the letterhead of the Olubadan in his bid to nullify his 2013 suspension.
It was learnt that Agura allegedly forged the letterhead and drafted a letter to the Ido Local Government chairman, wherein he declared his suspension null and void.
Based on the nullification, the alleged forged letter also authorised payment of all his outstanding salaries and allowances and that of his personal assistant.
After drafting the letter, he took it to the Olubadan to sign.
It was learnt that Oba Adetunji seized the letter and tabled the case before members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
Irked by his audacity and the desperate move, the Council summoned him to its special meeting on Wednesday, where he was grilled for about one hour.
In its unanimous decision, the Council affirmed his suspension but seized his beads.
He was warned to stop parading himself as the Onido.
Based on the magnitude of his offence, a source said it was “very doubtful” that he would be restored.
Agura was installed in 2011 after an eventful tenure of his predecessor, Chief Benjamin Ishola.
The latter was embroiled in several issues, including his crave to wear a beaded crown.
Agura replaced Ishola after winning a law suit against him.
But less than two years after his ascension, there were petitions alleging abuse of office. He was also sued for certain controversies.
