The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has arrested a man who dresses as a woman to swindle men in Osogbo, the state capital.
Its spokesman, Afolabi Babawale, said the suspect, Joy Samuel from Benue State, was apprehended while posing as a prostitute.
During the interrogation of the suspect at the NSCDC Oke Ayepe office in Osogbo, Samuel said he is from Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
The suspect said he arrived in Osun State last month through a syndicate involved in human trafficking.
He said the leader of the syndicate, Onifa, brought him from Benue State to serve as a maid for a woman called Aunt Funmi, who, according to him, owns a shop at Old Garage, Osogbo.
Samuel said Aunty Funmi paid his one year salary in advance to Onifa before she sacked him after discovering that he was not a woman as he claimed.
Samuel also confessed that he was in the trade to deceive unsuspecting men to fend for himself.
The suspect said he usually wears a wig and parades himself as a woman of easy virtue at night so that he could be approached by men.
But Samuel ran out of luck when a man patronised him on Station Road and noticed that he was pretending to be a woman.
Babawale said investigation has begun to unveil the syndicate.
He warned the public to beware of the company they keep.
