To God be the glory, Otunba Busra Alebiosu joins octogenarian club today. On the 24th April, 1936 God planted a small seed that has since germinated to become a mighty oak in the person of Otunba Alebiosu . The high chief has left no one in doubt that he was born to serve God and humanity which is the earthly purpose for every mortal.
Otunba Alebiosu’s communitarian efforts perpetually geared towards seeking the good of his immediate and extended constituency earned him the title of Otunba Gbelebuwa of Ijebuland and a member of the inner council of Awujale.
His political career started in 1976 when he was elected councillor in the old Somolu Local Government, Lagos State. He represented Anthony ward.
With an intractable record as councillor, he was elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly in 1979 on the platform of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) when Alhaji Lateef Jakande was the state governor. As a reward for effective representation, Alebiosu was re-elected in 1983. But the mandate was short lived by military intervention.
Many property owners along Ikorodu would be eternally grateful to Otunba Alebiosu because he used his influence as a member of the State House of Assembly to agitate for the removal of many houses in Anthony, Ketu and Ojota from the state acquisition list.
Alebiosu played prominent role in the struggle for the creation of Kosofe Local Council from the old Somolu Local Government. Again, he was the arrow head of the agitation that led to carving out of Ikosi-Iseri and Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) from Kosofe Local Government.
An astute politician, he is a leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos East Senatorial District, a grass root mobiliser and a complete family man with the love of his people topmost on his agenda.
On the occasion of his birthday celebration, one of his disciples eulogised him: “Today we celebrate a progressive icon with principled stance on issues, a leader in whom we are all pleased. Today, we celebrate the life of our wonderful leader, mentor, kingmaker, mobilizer, natural political scientist. We appreciate your sterling qualities through which you lifted many people to higher levels of life. His grand style to inspire people around you is very unique and worth emulating. His words of wisdom, encouragement and desire for others to succeed in life is unparallel and worthy of praise.
“His humility, patriotism and total love for people around him contributed to political stability in Lagos State. It is an established fact that Alebiosu was endowed with spirit and technique to lead people to success. His political dynasty cut across the length and breadth of Lagos State. Ride on and lead your followers in the state to the promise land.”
He studied steel fabrication in the United Kingdom. On his return to Nigeria, he became a major player in construction and real estate industry. He is married to Otunba Funmilayo. The marriage is blessed with five children.
May the Almighty God grant him good health, happiness and more years ahead to render useful services to mankind.
