The Lagos State government has waded into the chieftaincy tussle in Ikeja community.
The government on Tuesday convened a meeting of stakeholders to find a lasting solution.
The meeting, which was presided over by Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs Mr. Musliu Folami was attended by Prince Samshedeen Adeleye, and his two other siblings, Nurudeen Adeleye and Wasiu Adeleye.
Also in attendance were members of the Ikeja Council of Chiefs, led by the Oba of Onigbongbo, and some chiefs and kingmakers.
A source the meeting said the commissioner was given a letter written and signed by the head of the kingmakers who had been a former deputy governor of Lagos State, the late Chief Rafiu Jafojo.
Jafojo died last week at the age of 80.
A source said the government would soon come up with a resolutin that would finally settle the dispute.
“It would be sad if the decision of the Jafojo-led kingmakers is abandoned. Are we saying since he is dead, the decision is dead too?” the source said.
