An apprentice has gone into hiding after she allegedly kidnapped her boss two children at Ajegunle, Lagos.
The suspect simply identified as Ruth allegedly kidnapped two-year-old Chikamso Okpara, with her older sister, Chinaza aged four, few days after resuming work at their mother’s hair dressing saloon.
The Nation gathered that the suspect started working with the woman last Tuesday, but fled with the kids on Saturday under the pretence of running an errand for their mother.
According to the children’s father, Emeka Okpara, they accompanied their mother to the saloon and were playing when the suspect lured them away.
He said the neighbours had asked where she was taking them to but she replied that she was instructed by the mother to buy food for them.
“Rose approached my wife on Tuesday last week at the saloon. She said she wanted to learn work but my wife told her that she was only a manager at the saloon.
“The arrangement was that she should come back with her people to meet the owner so that they can agree on the terms of work and then sign a form to that effect.
“Rose said since the owner wasn’t around, that she would still like to begin tentative work so that she won’t be idle. My wife agreed and she worked from that Tuesday till Saturday when she stole our children.
“That Saturday, a customer came to the shop and my wife was attending to her. Later, my wife wanted to buy something at the market across and so she left the customer, our daughters and Rose there.
“When she came back, she didn’t see Rose and our girls. When she asked the neighbours, they told her that Rose went out with them to buy food.
“Since that Saturday we haven’t seen nor heard from Rose. We don’t know what else to do. We are devastated. We are pleading with her to please return our joy to us,” he said.
