Senator Abdulfatai Buhari has donated various materials and equipments to empower people in his constituency.
Speaking at the event in Saki at the weekend, the senator who represents Oyo North in the National Assembly said the empowerment programme became necessary for him in fulfillment of the promises he made to the people of his constituency.
Senator Buhari who is the Chairman, Senate committee on ICT and Cybercrime lauded Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State for his support and administrative style. He expressed appreciation to members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their steadfastness and the success of the party in the state and the country in general.
He listed his achievements in the upper chamber as ensuring the appropriation for the completion of the dreaded Ogbomoso-Oyo axis of the Ibadan–Ilorin Expressway in the 2016 budget. Senator Buhari gave his commitment to ensure that the hitherto abandoned road project is completed in earnest. He also highlighted the rehabilitation of Iseyin-Okeho road, and Okeho-Iganna road are his priority, promising speedy completion of them.
Governor Ajimobi represented by his deputy, Chief Alake Adeyemo said the empowerment programme is unprecedented in the state, “We are proud to have you as our senator, you are projecting the image of our great party and the government, we are very proud of you as an intelligent and responsible Senator.”
The Oyo State APC Vice Chairman Alhaji Isiaka Alimi who led other executive members of the party to the event said “We in APC are happy that our senator is doing this at this moment when the economic situation is not friendly,” he called on other lawmakers to emulate the gesture.
About 16 cars, 300 motorcycles, 12 tricycles, 637 grinding machines, as well as cash donations to widows were distributed at the event.
