A septuagenarian identified as Betsy Egbeobamwonyi has been found dead in her room with her throat sliced.
Egbeobamwonyi’s killers also stabbed her severally as they laid her on the same bed with her four years old grandson.
The woman’s children are yet to understand the motive behind the killing.
Tenants in the house located at Oseye Street, off Upper Sokponba Road, Benin, said they were not aware of the incident.
The teenager, who looked traumatized, said he was sleeping when the assailants struck.
One of the deceased’s daughters, who gave her name as Dorothy, said the family was still in shock over the killing.
“We don’t know who killed our mother. We don’t know who she offended. She is the landlady of the house. The day before she was killed, I bought things for her only to be told that she was killed the next day,” Dorothy said.
Edo police spokesman, Abiodun Osifo, could not be reached for comments on the incident.
