The Adeleke University, Ede in Osun State will on Sunday graduate 266 students.
Its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Amusan, who spoke at a news conference in Ede, said the graduating students are the second set since inception of the institution about five years ago.
The vice chancellor added that 23 students drawn from various departments and faculties came out with First Class Division, 143 finished with Second Class Upper, 97 made Second Class Lower Division. Three passed with Third Class.
Amusan attributed the feat to the academic staff’s deep commitment to discipline, professionalism and respect for the quality standard that the university stands for.
On the institution’s penchant for innovative research in all its courses, he said the university has contributed immensely to the steady pace of academic excellence in the country.
He cited a breakthrough in medical research, which he said borders on antioxidant and hepatoprotective potentials of lemon juice and sorghum mixture against paracetamol-induced liver damage in rats.
Amusan added that a human volunteer had been cured of a liver problem when the drug was tested on him.
The vice chancellor also announced the award of honorary degrees to some eminent Nigerians, including the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, who would be conferred with the Honorary Degree of Science in Public Administration and Leadership.
