The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi, has said that the call by some people for the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai to either resign or be removed is not in good faith.

Ahwinahwi, who spoke with reporters at the weekend, said the reason for the call is not weighty enough and are meant to distract him from completely winning the war against the Boko Haram insurgents.

The lawmaker said since the property in question was declared by the COAS, the issue of corrupt intention of criminal concealment does not arise.

His words:  “The COAS having spent over 35 years in the military during which he held several command positions, as well as served in many international combat missions, where salaries and allowances were paid in foreign currencies and having been involved in agriculture right from when he was a junior officer, and possibly securing facilities from banks, lend credence to the fact that the said property in Dubai may not be a product of corruption.”
