Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan captain, Seun Akinyemi has attributed his side’s 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars of Akure in a Matchday 29 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash on Sunday to hard work.
Sunday Adetunji scored a brace against Sunshine to bring 3SC’s league survival alive. Both goals were from the penalty spot, in the 33rd minute and stoppage time after Meshack Chibuikem had put Sunshine Stars in front after 23 minutes.
Shooting Stars are now 14th on the table with 36 points from 27 matches.
“We didn’t expect Sunshine Stars to say anything otherwise because they lost the match. We beat them squally because we came to the game full of determination. In a game of football you win some and lose some. They won at their home ground and we won our game on Sunday too. We are still fighting and we will not relent until we achieve our goal,” Akinyemi said.
Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi who was a special guest of honour at the match bought tickets worth N30, 000 for him and his entourage to inspire Oluyole Warriors to victory.
“It was a massive boost to us and we appreciated the governor’s gesture and his present really helped us to win on Sunday,” he added.
