Followers of former Oyo State Governor Christopher Alao-Akala from Labour Party have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West Local Government Area.
The defectors, who sworn an allegiance to join the ruling party were received by the chairman in the council, Alhaji Raman Sodiq.
He said the defectors would be accorded the privileges due to them.
Sodiq addressed reporters after the council’s Caretaker chair Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun described the former governor as a formidable politician.
According to him, Alao-Akala has the clout to add value to any political party.
“For instance, when he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party died in the state. “
He said when Alao-Akala later joined Labour Party it became vibrant, adding: “Now that his followers and him are in the ruling party in the state, this means the APC will become stronger than before”.
