One dead, three injured in Kwara auto, Okada crash

A fatal accident involving an automobile and motorbike has killed one person in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

Three other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident.  The accident was said to have occurred near Charis Hotel along Flower-Garden – Kwara Mall road.

It was learnt the accident occurred last Friday night between a Renault Scenic car with registration number SHA 630 TW and a commercial motorcycle with registration number TRE 224 QD.

Sources said the motorcyclist and his passenger were going to the Flower Garden when a vehicle occupied by a driver and another

occupant coming from the area hit them.

Eyewitnesses said that the car swerved at a bridge on the road and hit the cyclist and his passenger, throwing them into the carnal of the bridge.

It was gathered that the passenger of the motorcyclist died on the spot while the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries on his

legs.

The source added that the driver of the car and the occupant sustained injuries too.

The injured victims were said to have been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who later arrived at the scene.

Corpse of the dead was said to have been deposited in a mortuary. Sector Commander of FRSC Sunday Maku confirmed the accident.

He said: “The accident happened around 9.25pm. The road is Ilorin-old Jebba road. Location is near Charis Hotel about 100m away from FRSC’s office.

“The vehicles involved were two. The point of impact was at the side. There was one motorcycle and a vehicles Renault car.
