The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, yesterday said the Federal Government was aware of the high expectations of Nigerians and party officials from President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The minister, who linked the hardship in the land to the crisis in the oil-rich region, said the government was committed to laying a solid foundation for the nation’s future.
Usani spoke yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, when a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Save Nigeria-Buhari Ambassadors (SNBA), visited him in his office.
The group said its visit to the minister was meant to proffer what it called a lasting solution to the crisis in the Niger Delta.
Usani said attacks on oil and gas pipelines would soon end, adding that Nigerians should empathise with the government to overcome its challenges.
He said: “There is a ray of hope that has come to Nigeria, despite the hardship. In no distant time, everyone will appreciate why the foundation being laid by this administration is taking a longer time.”
According to him, SNBA’s blueprint to the government will be examined by the appropriate authorities for possible collaboration between both sides.
The minister said this was part of strategies to end the crises in Niger Delta.
He urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government in its efforts to make more economic gains.
