Ifeanyi Ubah attacker Ismail Gata has reiterated the importance of experienced players for the team ahead of their Oriental Derby clash against Enyimba at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward believes the experienced players in the squad are there to help the younger players not get overwhelmed by the atmosphere.
“It is always good to have many players on the team who have got derby experience. We have got quite a few but we’ve also got young players who are experienced enough to keep a level head, approach it correctly and not get carried away,” Gata told Goal.
“There’s always going to be moment in the derby when it gets fiery and you have got to show that fight but be up for it in the right way. It’s meant to be a competitive game but you have got to keep your composure as well.”
“Scoring would be amazing to help us finish the season on a high. Victory would be great for us, by any means. Hopefully we can be on the winning side,” he added.
