Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at the weekend kicked-off road construction across three senatorial districts. The projects will cost about N10 billion.

The 18.3-kilometre road network in Kogi Central include Agassa-Ahache-Upogoro road, Ogaminana-Ebogogo road, Itakpe-Eika-Kuroko road and Obehira-Ihima-Obangede road in Okene, Adavi and Okehi councils at N3.819 billion.

Others are Iyamoye-Jege-Ife-Olukotun- Ponyan-Ejuku-Ijowa Isanlu roads, Ekirin-Ade-Ohun-Ifeolukotun roads, all in Kogi West at N4 billion.

In Kogi East, work is scheduled to start at Ayingba-Umomi-Akpagidigbo- Ugwolawo-Ajaka road, Ankpa township road, Ibana-Okpo road and Ikeje-Ogugu-Ette road at N2.84 billion.

At the launching, Bello lamented the poor state of infrastructure, particularly roads, across the senatorial districts.

According to him, the New Direction blueprint of his administration took note of the infrastructural decay in health, education and roads, adding that efforts will be made to rehabilitate them.

The governor hinted that Lokoja, the state capital, and other major towns, will get a face-lift to the standard of 21st century cities, adding that besides urban roads, his administration will also rebuild rural roads to further aid economic development.
