Kidnapped BUK lecturer freed

The authorities of Bayero University, Kano, have confirmed the release of its lecturer, Mr. Saminu Aliyu-Kiri, who was kidnapped in Kaduna State last Thursday.

The university’s Director of Public Affairs, Malam Ahmed Shehu, confirmed Aliyu-Kiri’s release during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano, yesterday.

Shehu said the lecturer, who was freed last Friday, had since been reunited with his family in Kano.

“Aliyu-Kiri was released on Friday, October 7, and he has since been reunited with his family,” he said.

Shehu, who did not say whether a ransom was paid or not, attributed Aliyu-Kiri’s release to God’s miracle.

Aliyu-Kiri of the Faculty of Computer Science was kidnapped with two others in Kaduna while returning from an official assignment in Shaki, Oyo State.
