Eulogy flowed from the Anglican community in Ijebuland and family members as one of their own, Chief Japhet Adebisi Alaba Otufodunrin, made his final exit yesterday with many saying he was a man of immense support to the church and society.
Chief Otufodunrin, father of Mr Lekan Otufodunrin, Managing Editor Online and Special Publications of The Nation, was lowered to the earth by 1:42p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church’s cemetery, Imagbon, his home town in Ogun State.
He was 76.
During the funeral service at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, the Bishop of Ijebu diocese, Bishop Ayodele Awosoga, hailed Chief Otufodunrin for life well lived, describing him as the “pillar of the Anglican church in Imagbon.”
Awosoga, a Pharmacist, said the deceased was a man who stuck to truth in dealings with others all through his life, adding that he was also a “great man and hero in his community.”
For Lekan, his father was one to be proud of any day. “I and my siblings are what we are today by the grace of God and crucial roles you played at every stage of our development. We are grateful and proud of you being a father like no other,” he stated in his tribute.
The Nation family, led by the Managing Director and Editor-in- Chief, Mr Victor Ifijeh, Pastor Soji Omotunde, Segun Ayobolu, Olakunle Abimbola, Sanya Oni, among others, joined the Otufodunrins and other eminent personalities to bid their illustrious father a final goodbye.
