Oke inaugurates 700-member campaign committees

The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Olusola Oke, yesterday inaugurated the 700-member campaign committees for the November 26 election.

They were appointed from the units to state level, to serve as foot soldiers in mobilising voters for the election.

Inaugurating the committees at the BTO Hall, Akure, the state capital, Oke contended that the real place to win election is the units.

He urged members to return to their units, wards and local governments to begin action, advising them to maintain absolute peace.

According to the legal luminary, “it is evident this is the movement of the people.

“We have resolved to see that the sun shines again in Ondo State.

“Every member should be doing something to aid our victory, God will lead us to our destination.

“Since you have decided to take your destiny in your hands, nothing will stop it.

“We are moving to Alagbaka. The boasting by supporters of some political parties that they will rig the election holds no water.

“We are winning the election clearly and constitutionally through majority votes.”

Oke said the state is poor despite its endowment, adding that Ondo has the longest coastline in Africa with richest forest and enviable human resources.

He said: “We are bringing new direction, new order and vision to Ondo State.

“You the people and supporters of this project will serve as instrument to be used for this vision to be accomplished.

“We will attract investors into the state, revive dead companies, make traditional rulers happy, empower women and provide job opportunities for the youth and unemployed.”

The AD candidate said if elected, his administration would bring new order in education and hope to the hopelessness.

He appreciated the leader of the party, Dr Akin Olowookere, for resisting all temptations to stop the new vision by those he called “the enemies of the state”.

At the event were former commissioners, special advisers, local government chairmen and former political functionaries.
