Kabir Umar to remain at Plateau Utd next season

The former Kano Pillars forward was amongst the top performers at Plateau United last season and got a vital goal in Lagos that earned Plateau United the maximum points away at MFM FC to escape relegation.

“I have decided to stay back at Plateau United to help build on what we achieved this past season. I scored some vital goals and will hope to improve on that next season most especially with a group of players I already built an understanding with. Such synergy could help us challenge for honours next season,” Umar told Goal.

He also had a word for coach Zachery Baraje who resigned as club coach.

“Coach Baraje is more than just a coach. He is a motivator, a tactician and a goal getter. At some point in the league last season,  we were in a very bad position on the NPFL table. Things looked really tough but the self believe and motivation he gave helped find our feet as we battle for survival.

“While putting our best in every match, we found the right mix and we won twice away from home and even went on a four match unbeaten run.”
