No fewer than 80 Nigerians have been reportedly arrested by authorities of the Ministry of Immigration in Kenya on Monday.
According to a victim, who simply identified himself as David with a short video that was made available to The Nation, Nigerians are being hunted by the Kenya immigration.
David further lamented that “the Kenyan immigration’s have been moving from one community to another, arresting Nigerians, looting, stabbing them with knives, breaking into Nigerians’ houses.”
While The Nation is currently making efforts to contact officials of the Kenyan Ministry of Immigration, the victims lamented poor response from the Nigerian High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya.
Meanwhile, the High Commission on its website said: “As part of its statutory responsibility, the High Commission is to provide useful information and assistance to Nigerians resident abroad. In order to achieve this objective, Nigerians are advised to register with the High Commission in order to facilitate their documentation.”
However, the main reason for the crackdown on Nigerians remains unknown as at press time.
