In the light of an alleged plan by herdsmen to attack Ekiti, the state government has resorted to divine held to avert blood shed in the state. The spiritual fortification of the state began yesterday with the declaration of a one-day prayer and fasting by the government.
The people of the state were urged to fast yesterday while pastors of all churches are to lead their congregation in prayers against bloodshed at their services on Sunday.
The Government House Chaplain, Pastor Seyi Olusola, who disclosed this to our reporter in a telephone chat yesterday said the state needs prayer to consolidate the development being witnessed in the state.
Olusola who doubles as Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters said:
“We have dedicated Friday as a day to pray and fast for our dear state for divine protection against threat of bloodshed, security of lives and property.
“We believe there is nothing God cannot do and that is why we are seeking his face in prayers for our state most especially on the security situation and we are also praying for peace, progress and development of our state.
“Today our people will fast and pray at any place convenient for them while on Sunday, there will be special prayer in our churches to be led by ministers in charge of the churches.”
