ivil Society Organisations in Cross River State have criticised the state government for its budget and procurement processes in the past year.
In a review meeting organised by the Catholic Caritas Foundation/Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) under the supervision of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and supported by the European Union (EU) in Calabar, 28 CSOs operating in the state said procurement and budget processes are meant to build the capacities of the people and provide a platform for their all round development.
In a resolution delivered by Executive Director Centre for Community Empowerment and Peace Initiative, Mr. Bassey Ibok, on behalf of the CSOs, they also decried the exclusion of the civil society in the budget process.
Technical Lead of Caritas/JDPC, Calabar, William Itorok, said their focus is to build capacity of civil society organisations to be able to carry out activities that will help reduce corruption.
