IBEDC

The family of a middle aged man, Manger Ogbaji, a native of Benue State, who was electrocuted by a 33 KVA cable at Eleso, Ibadan, are demanding N20 million from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for gross negligence and loss of life .
The deceased was reportedly electrocuted at Eleso in Ido Local Government of Oyo State by a 33 KVA electric cable, which was negligently left dangling close to the ground.
Two others who were in company of the deceased were said to have escaped death.
Angered by the alleged insensitivity and lack of regard to human life, the deceased’s family, through their counsel, O.O. Olabinjo, berated IBEDC for ignoring the family.
Olabinjo, in a letter to IBEDC’s Manager and copied the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Abuja, said it was “your omission to rectify the said 33KVA electric cable” that led to the death of the deceased.
“In this circumstance, we hereby demand N20 million as damages for your acts of negligence causing the death of the deceased within 10 days of your receipt of this letter. We also demand repair of the 33KVA electric cable that caused the deceased’s death.”
