Sixth Ejigbo fire victim dies in hospital

Another victim of the December 3 fire at Ejigbo, Lagos, is dead.
Elijah Obadina, a grandson of Prophet Isaac Shofolabo, died yesterday at the Trauma and Burns Centre of Gbagada General Hospital.
His death now brings to six the casualty figure.
Shofolabo’s aggrieved mistress Joy Ohoho alias Iya Rachael set his family home ablaze when he went for vigil.
Shofolabo’s wife, Mary, children – Taiwo, Iredamola, Segun -as well as a relative, Kazeem were killed in the inferno.
Shofolabo’s daughter Bunmi said Obadina complained of breathing difficulty and was placed on Oxygen.
She said: “It was almost the same thing like Segun but the difference is that Elijah did not remove the oxygen that was put on him. He complained he couldn’t breathe and was struggling. Elijah didn’t want to die. He wanted to live because he was begging us to hurry and call the nurse and that the Oxygen should not be allowed to fall while he was struggling.
“It has been a traumatising period for us. A very sad period. We had thought Elijah was out of crisis because he was getting better. He had started sitting down and was talking very well. He even made statements to the police the day Segun died. But surprisingly, he passed on. He was buried yesterday.”
Bunmi said her dad had not visited the hospital since the incident occurred. She appealed to the police to fish out the suspect.
She said: “He didn’t come. I know that he was invited by the police and given till Tuesday (today) to provide his lover. He should know her whereabouts and so, the police should ask him well.”
Efforts to get Shofolabo to comment failed. He yelled at this reporter for “disturbing him.”
“Why are you disturbing me? I am not in a good mood and I don’t want anyone to bother me,” he said.
