‘Genuine Kogi workers’ll be paid before December 20’

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has assured workers they will get their salary and pension arrears before December 20.
The governor, who spoke through his Director General on Media and Strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, said his administration would continue to prioritise workers’ welfare to encourage them to be productive.
“Governor Yahaya Bello has directed that all salary and pension arrears be cleared before December 20 and he is committed to this promise. The delay in payment was due to the staff verification which is almost over.
“The governor met four months unpaid salaries when he assumed office; what is left at the moment is three months. Those who have been verified will receive their arrears in the spirit of fairness and labour-friendliness.
“Governor Bello is committed to regular payment of salaries in line with the resources available to the government, and will ensure labour plays a critical role in actualising his New Direction Agenda of rejuvenating the state for excellence,” Fanwo said.
