Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi has reiterated his administration’s commitment to explore the state’s resources for economic development.
He spoke in Ibadan, the state capital, at the 2016 Amala fiesta organised by the government at Trans Amusement Park, Ibadan.
The Amala Fiesta is a three-day event targeted at promoting food and encouraging tourism.
Ajimobi, represented by his wife, Florence, said there was need for Nigerians to embrace indigenous cultural values for socio-economic benefits.
The governor described Amala as a very nutritious food essential for healthy living.
He said it will add value chain to agricultural produce and improve the state’s economic status.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Toye Arulogun said the fiesta was part of government’s responsibility to create an enabling environment for the promotion of culture and tourism.
“We have 17 food vendors from the 33 local governments. The fiesta will be used to promote the nutritious value of Amala, attract tourism, create jobs and also improve internally generated revenue.”
