Two arrested over suspected fraudster’s disappearance

Two men have been arrested by the police in Lagos over the disappearance of an alleged fraudster they reported to the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC).

Sunday Akinwale, 18, and Adeyemi Ismail were arrested after the alleged fraudster, Oladimeji Oladoye, was declared missing.

The Nation gathered that Akinwale, an Alumaco apprentice, had identified Oladoye to his boss as the member of the gang that defrauded him of N10,000 and other valuables.

The police had also launched a manhunt for the OPC members in Ikotun in order to ascertain what happened to Oladoye.

Narrating how he was defrauded, Akinwale said: “I was walking around that day when I met Oladoye. He told me he will help me. He said I should go and withdraw money from my account and I should get more money from my brother. He told me that the money will be used to buy chemical that will change paper to money. “When I came back with N10,000, I met two other men with him. He collected my phone, my wrist watch and the money and told me to take an oath of secrecy. He said any time I reveal that they collected money from me, I will start vomiting blood and die.

“I went home as if I was hypnotised. But some months later, I saw him walking on my street and I confronted him but he denied knowing me. I told my boss and he was apprehended.”

Ismail, who confirmed that the suspect was arrested, added that he handed him over to two of his friends who took Oladoye to OPC.

He said: “After we apprehended him, I called two friends and they were the ones that took the man to the OPC. I have taken the police to their houses but they have fled. The OPC members have relocated from the area so we don’t know what has happened to the man.”

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP) said the OPC members would be trailed and arrested to answer for the whereabouts of Oladoye.
