Three killed in Edo cult clash

Three persons were on Wednesday killed in different parts of Benin City, Edo State, in the ongoing cult war that started on Christmas Day.

One of the victims identified as Godspower was killed at about 4:00 a.m. in front of his residence along Second East Circular road.

Late Godspower was scheduled to travel out of the country on Saturday.

His bereaved mother, who refused to give her name, sat on a walkway and wept profusely.

She placed curses on her son’s killers before policemen came to take the body away.

Witnesses said they heard Godspower begging for his life before he was shot.

Meanwhile, a farmer who identified himself as Joseph Agbomma, has sent a Save our Soul message to the police to save his only son, Evans, from the hands of suspected cultists.

Agbomma said he was surprised that his son was attacked by some cultists at Ugbogui village where both of them worked as farmers.

He said his son managed to escape with serious injuries and appealed to the police to protect the boy.

Confirming the killings, the state Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, gave the name of another victim as Igali.

The police commissioner said 51 suspected cultists have been arrested since the cult related killings began.
