Sambisa victory: Lagos, Kano legislatures laud Buhari

The Lagos State House of Assembly has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and the military for sacking Boko Haram insurgents from Sambisa forest.

Chairman, Committee on Information and Strategy, Tunde Braimoh (Kosofe II), who addressed correspondents in his office in Alausa, said the fall of Sambisa forest re-established the essence of government, which is to protect life and property.

“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, continue to manifest utter pragmatism in face of daunting challenges.

“The President is systematically, consistently and steadily pursuing his policies and programmes with no room for cosmetism, grandstanding, self-aggrandisement or self-adulation.

“Security of lives and properties is the most basic function of any good government and a government that fails in this fails in all. With this feat, the Federal Government has re-established the essence of governance in Nigeria,” he said.

According to Braimoh, the fall of Sambisa is a major step in regaining security of life and property in the country, saying the fall implies that total victory over the insurgents is imminent.

Braimoh said peace would enhance socio-economic activities in the area and aid foreign investments.

He urged the President and the military not to rest until the insurgents were completely rooted out.

In the same vein, the Kano State House of Assembly praised President Muhammadu Buhari and the military for the victory.

The House made the observation yesterday at plenary. It said every patriotic Nigerian must share in the joy.

Kabiru Rurum, the Speaker, noted that the success was not only for people of Northeast, but the country.

He attributed the success to the President’s resolve and doggedness of the military in meeting the promise to Nigerians to secure the country.

“The success recorded by the military is as a result of the efforts of the President. Therefore, he deserves praises from all angles,” he said.
