The death has been announced of a former Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Trade and Development, Prof. Herbert Maurice Adebola Onitiri. He died on December 16. The late Prof Onitiri was 88.
In 1953, the deceased obtained a government scholarship to attend the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in International Economics and got a Masters Degree in International Development at Yale University in 1958.
After graduation at Yale, he was a lecturer at the University of Ibadan and in 1963, got his Ph.d in International Economics from the London School of Business.
He is survived by children and grand-children.
