The National secretariat of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers NANPF has requested its state Exco to confirm the status of clubs indebtedness to players in the Nigeria Professional Football league, the Nigeria National League and Nigeria Women league for the concluded league season of 2015/2016 .
‘We advice all states councils executives of the union to get in touch with the clubs captains or their representatives to get all information on such debts profile to enable the Union contact the relevant league bodies before the commencement of the 2017 season.
This move is to forestall the possibilities of carrying over the new debts to the already completed issues of the old debts that are yet to be paid. The Union is worried over the attitude of majority of our players who keep silence over debts owed them, and only speak out when they are no longer in the club. This attitude of players coupled with the inability of the relevant Football governing authorities to enforce decisions of the Arbitration committee and failure to sanctions erring clubs has brought us to where we are today’.
