Abuja-Kaduna road repair to gulp N1.06b

Repair works on the Abuja-Kaduna dual carriageway will cost N1,058,958,958.54, it was learnt yesterday.
The contract, awarded to Messrs CGC Nigeria Limited, according to a statement by the Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Bisi Agbonhin, is to ease passenger mobility along the Kaduna International Airport route pending repair of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA), runway.
The statement reads: “Sequel to the planned usage of the Kaduna International Airport for flights in and out of Abuja, while the runaway of the NAIA, Abuja, undergoes rehabilitation works, the Federal Government has awarded a contract for the emergency repairs of the Abuja-Kaduna dual carriageway.
“The contract for the emergency repairs of the 164-kilometre road was awarded to Messrs CGC (Nig.) Ltd, at N1,058,958,958.54, with a completion period of 50 days.”
The statement added that the procurement processes for the award of the contract are ongoing and would be awarded as soon as a “Certificate of No Objection” is received from the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).
According to the release, the project was earlier captured in the 2016 Budget.
