The Managing Director (MD) of the Nigerian Turkish International College (NTIC), Isheri, Ogun State, Mr. Orhan Kertim, on Wednesday said they very happy with the safe rescue of their abducted pupils and staff from their abductors.
The victims of the abduction who regained freedom on Tuesday night included three students, three female supervisors, a cook and a female teacher.
However, no arrest has been made by the Police.
Orhan said it was all “sleepless nights” for management of the school throughout the 11 days the abducted pupils and staff stayed in the kidnappers’ den.
The NTIC MD, who spoke at the Ogun State Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, when Governor Ibikunle Amosun received him, the freed children and staff as well as parents, added that the period of the abduction was a “very difficult time” for the school.
They were presented to the Governor by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu.
Orhan lauded President Muhammadu Buhari, the security agencies and Amosun for their support and commitment that led to the victims’ rescue.
He said, “It was a very difficult time for all of us; for 11 days, there were sleepless nights and hopes but also prayers. We never lost our hope.
“I will like to thank the President of this great nation, Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari; Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Inspector General of Police, Director General of State Security Service, Chief of Army Staff, and all national security agencies for their continuous effort and support.”
