An Ado-Ekiti High Court on Tuesday sentenced a 20-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a four- year-old girl.
Prosecution counsel, Femi Onipede, told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 3, 2015 at Isaba Street, Ilupeju-Ekiti, in Oye local government area of Ekiti State.
He said the accused unlawfully raped and defiled the young girl.
According to him, the offence contravened section 358 of the Criminal Code, Laws Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecution called five witnesses to prove his case while the defence testified in his own defense.
The defence counsel urged the court to discountenance all the evidence of the prosecution as feeble and porous.
The prosecution urged the court to convict the accused persons based on the evidence tendered before the court.
Justice John Adeyeye in his judgment said the confessional statement of the accused and the other corroborative evidence of the prosecution reinforced the conviction of the accused and found him guilty as charged.
