The Nationwide League One (NLO) on Wednesday in Abuja has rejected FCT football field for the 2016/2017 league season, to improve the standard of the league.

Olushola Ogunnowwo , the Secretary of the NLO, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the league gave the FCT Football Association board 14 days to work on the facilities.

“We wrote them a letter on Feb. 9 to notify them on some of the facilities that are supposed to be on ground before Feb. 27.

“We gave them three good weeks to start working on the field so that it enables them to approve the filed for the new season.

“We conducted an inspection on the facilities in area 3 football field on Feb. 28 and we discovered there was no single repair or amends to our earlier observation.

“We will send them a letter to let them know that matches will not be approved in area 3 football field, if we don’t see any improvement on the field, ‘’ he said

The secretary said that NLO was set to make the league more attractive and interesting for the new season.

“We told them to work on certain things like mobile toilet; they can rent mobile toilets on the match day. We also need water; they can hire a tank for water in a match day.

“They should build benches for spectators to seat. They need to do some amendment on the sitting arrangement. Some of the equipment have been over used; they need to repair them.

“They need to have a shield for the officials, the technical, the medical crews including players; they all sit under hot sun in a match day. Imagine how the field will be during the rainy season.

“They need to get all these done so that people can come to watch matches before league commences. We appreciate the fact that they manage to use a container for the dressing rooms.

“They built a house for the referees and the match commissioners. We want them to improve on other facilities,’’ he said

The secretary added that NLO clubs in FCT would chose another venue for their league matches or they will be compelled to relocate their matches to a better stadium in nearby state as stated in the rules and regulations.
