PDP faults freezing of council accounts

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has faulted Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s freezing of local government accounts.
It urged him to rescind the decision and allow the councils to operate freely.
In a statement yesterday by its Director of Publicity, Ayo Fadaka, the party expressed its “disappointment with the actions Governor Rotimi Akeredolu seems to be pursuing in respect of the local governments in the state”.
The statement added that “it is disheartening and absolutely inexcusable for the government to so unilaterally freeze the accounts of the local governments and cannot even proffer any reason for such action”.
It described as “illegal” any action taken by Akeredolu “to compromise the operations of the local government” and wondered why the All Progressives Congress (APC) boycotted the election.
“We urge him to rescind that and allow that tier of government to function flawlessly.
“We also wish to reiterate that we remain committed to the continuing advancement of our state and its wellbeing.”
