Enugu State Sports Commissioner Charles Ndukwe has branded as “complete sabotage” after comments by Rangers coach Chukwuma Agbo that the players could not eat before their CAF Confederation Cup clash at Zesco United of Zambia.
On Saturday, Rangers crashed out of the Confederation Cup after they fell 3-0 in Ndola for Zesco to advance to the group stage 5-2 on aggregate.
“This is a complete sabotage. There is no way the boys will tell anyone they couldn’t eat when they were each paid a travel allowance of N300,000,” blasted a furious Ndukwe.
Agbo lamented in a post-match interview that Rangers played on empty stomachs.
“We got to Zambia less than two hours before the game and we are humans and we can’t cheat nature. My players didn’t eat since yesterday and the Zesco players are more physical, which proved decisive in the game but all the same I’m proud of the players,” he said.
