The authority of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State has demanded an apology from Police Commissioner Haliru Gwandu over allegation that arms and ammunition were recovered from lecturers.

It threatened to sue the police boss if he did not apologise.

A statement by spokesman Edward Aihevba debunked the allegation by Gwandu, describing it as “totally false and embarrassing.”

The statement said the institution did not experience cultism since the inception of Prof. Ignatius Onimawo’s administration.

It said there was no report by the police or individual or group on cultism.

“The police commissioner and his team could not have arrested any worker, or found 14 students dead and not make a report, formal or informal, to the authorities of Ambrose Alli University.

”The police commissioner, by his pronouncement, has opened the way for damaging and libellous display of falsehood in the social media.

”We assure the public that there is and there has been peace within and around the university environment. There is no cultism and no student died.

“The first semester examinations are going on in a peaceful manner and students are going about their academic activities peacefully.”
