Encomiums poured in from far and near yesterday for former Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, as he marked his 60th birthday with orphans and the less-privileged at the Correctional Home, along Ondo Road, Akure, the state capital.
In his goodwill message, Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), described Olabimatan as a patriotic Nigerian and lover of the commoners whose life deserves to be emulated by the younger generation.
“On behalf of the Akeredolu’s clan, I say expressly that we are lucky to have someone as nice, honest, sincere and reliable as Victor. He deserves all of the happiness in the world times two. I wish him more wisdom, knowledge and understanding and the grace to live in good health till the end,” Akeredolu said.
An elated Olabimtan said he preferred a low-key celebration to a big bash arranged by friends and associates just to be amongst the teeming masses.
The community leader, who served as the Director General of the Akeredolu Campaign Platform in the November 26th 2016 governorship election in Ondo State, recalled that he would have lived a wasted life if not for the uncommon mercy, grace and favour he got from God that made him triumph against all odds.
The celebrator was accompanied to the less-privileged home by Akeredolu, Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, Secretary to the Government of Ondo State, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde and Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Engr. Ade Adetimehin.
Also on the entourage was Olabimtan’s wife, Deaconess Aina, his children, siblings, government functionaries, political associates and numerous well-wishers.
The Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, who donated cash gift, food and drinks to the orphanage home alongside Olabimtan described the celebrator as his leader, mentor and dependable ally who doesn’t tell lie nor betray his benefactors.
