President Muhammadu Buhari’s health is beyond medical capability, the Archbishop of Province of Lagos African Church, Rev Julius Ogunseye, has said.
The cleric said most Nigerians were aware of the President’s advanced age and were praying for his quick recovery.
He said there is need for the President to seek divine help to cure his ailment.
The Bishop of the Lagos Central Diocese of the church, Gabriel Adebanjo, and his Ifako Diocese counterpart, Bishop Michael Adeyemi, shared a similar view.
Ogunseye said: “Because the prayer of the righteous pleases God, we are praying for his quick recovery.”
The cleric urged Nigerians to show more understanding for President’s health challenges rather than bombard him with questions.
He pleaded with Nigerians to support the Buhari administration’s fight against corruption and its efforts to revive the economy.
He said: “President Buhari has come to awaken us, after being part of corruption and the rot for a very long time. But many of us do not want to face the truth of the situation.”
The cleric spoke at the maiden biannual congress of the African Church Salem Cathedral on Freeman Street in Lagos with the theme: Behold I will Do A New Thing.
The Archbishop advised the Ogun State government to revive the rice processing plant at Itori.
Ogunseye said: “We require just a little bit of commitment and effort to have food in abundance. I recall the Ofada rice from Ogun State and the Abakaliki rice from the Ebonyi State. Where are they now?”
The cleric regretted that inadequate power supply had forced many artisans into becoming commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders while others had taken to crime.
