Lagos State Government yesterday warned residents to desist from assaulting its officials in the line of duty or face its wrath.
Commissioner for Finance Akinyemi Ashade gave the warning in Alausa, following the reported assault of a Land Use Charge field officer at 9, Mologede Street, Meiran in Ayobo-Ipaja.
Ernest Usuaulele and his sister, Jessica allegedly beat up the officer and destroyed his camera while taking the photograph of a bill posted on the property as part of the evidence of notice served on the property. The picture was to serve as proof of the notice served on the property.
The government, the commissioner warned, would not hesitate to deal with those who obstruct its officials in the performance of their duty.
He urged officials not to be demoralised by such assault, but continue to do their best.
