It was fun and excitement for netball lovers in Lagos, as third edition of the annual BNB Mixed Netball Charity Tournament proudly supported by Model Steel Industries and the Lagos State Sports Commission was held recently at the Teslim Balogun Indoor Sports Hall.
The event, organised by The Bringing Netball Back (‘BNB’) Club to raise public awareness about netball and also raise funds for Charity saw the Gladiators beat the Alphas in a closely fought final match. Other teams that participated in the event were the Blazing Bullets and So United, comprising of BNB members as well as invited male players.
The versatility and athleticism required of netball players was evident and appreciated as players and spectators alike, most unfamiliar with the game, embraced it and looked forward to similar events in the near future.
Bimbo Smith, the Club President and head coach said that the club is an advocate for women in sports and continues to work tirelessly to promote netball as the team sport of choice for females in Lagos and across Nigeria, starting at grass roots.
She added that the club’s aspirations is to drive netball in Nigeria until the eventual emergence of a national team.
