No fewer than 13,000 pregnant women and children are now beneficiaries of the free health care services provided under the Ogun State Community Based Health Insurance Scheme (CBHIS) tagged “Araya”. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, disclosed this during a sensitisation exercise in Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Area of the State.
He said the exercise was to advance enlightenment campaign on the scheme towards capturing more pregnant women and children, especially the indigent in the society. Ipaye, who noted that the campaign would go round the three senatorial districts of the state, affirmed that the aim of the ministry was to ensure that at least 3,000 participants were enlisted for the scheme in each of the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
”As I’m speaking to you now, 13,000 persons have so far benefitted from the scheme, as we also seek to capture at least 3,000 persons per Local Government Area across the State. Araya Health Insurance Scheme is for the under privileged pregnant women and children under age five in Ogun State and is targeted to save One Million lives,” the Commissioner said.
He assured the residents of Ogun West Senatorial District of the provision of adequate health care service delivery through the on-going road show sensitisation campaign on free heath care on diabetes, hypertension and malaria. Represented by the Director Health Insurance Department of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, he stated this at the campaign tour to Ilaro, Owode, Idi-Iroko and Ipokia of Yewa axis of the state.
