An Ondo Chief Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded a cleric, Akinmoladun Emmanuel, in prison for allegedly defrauding one Babatunde Adepeko of N2.6 million.
The accused was until his arraignment, the Founder and Shepherd In Charge of Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ajegunle area of Ondo town.
He was arraigned on a three-count charge of fraud, illegal conversion and false declaration.
Before his arraignment, the accused was arrested by police at the Ondo Area C, for swearing an oath of affidavit before the court, claiming to be the original owner of two plots of land located at Asin community in Ondo East local government area of the state.
He also fraudulently collected the sum of N2.6 million from Adepeko 2013 and later disappeared to unknown destination.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olagbayi Bernard, who read the charges, said the accused person defrauded the complainant under the guise of selling two plots of land to him.
