The National leadership of Labour Party (LP) has refuted publications that it has sacked the party’s Lagos State chairman chairman Pastor Biodun Popoola.
In a statement made available Thursday to The Nation by the National Chairman of LP Alhaji Abubakar Salam, expressed disappointment that some elements who were hell bent to truncate the success of the party, were spreading false information. He said the party was fully behind the Leadership of Popoola in Lagos.
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the national leadership of our party hereby state categorically that the only leadership known to the party in Lagos State is the one led by Popoola and no other.
“Our uniqueness in the comity of political parties in Nigeria is expressed in our belief in due process, regulatory guidelines, the electoral act and other laws regulating the management of political parties.”
Salam said LP has the capacity to make the country better, adding that the party’s ideology was the best in the country.
“It is our further conviction that the party has the strength to tame unemployment, hunger, poverty, insecurity, restiveness and agitation. It is on the foregoing the national leadership of the party will resist any attempt by strange individuals to hijack and derail the current leadership in Lagos State.
“Consequently, we urged our members and supporters to remain focused and continue to canvass the support for the party in the coming local government election in Lagos State.”
