YOBE State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has embarked on a two day assessment and inspection of multi-million naira projects awarded by his administration in the northern and eastern part of the state. According to the governor, the assessment tour is a measure to ensure to determine whether the quality and pace of work is commensurate to the huge sums of monies his administration is expending for the projects.
Gaidam who commenced the inspection visit at the 42- yearold Government Girls College, Nguru, was surprise at the dearth of facilities at the school, just as he expressed happiness over the progress of work currently going on at the school. “I understand that since the establishment of this school in 1975, there has been no renovation work carried out in the school. My administration cannot sit down and watch over this kind of decay of our infrastructures especially in education. “I am happy with the progress and quality of work that is going on in this place.
I am directing the commissioner of water resources to immediately provide a borehole for the school. And for you my children, I will ensure that you have the best learning environment. After the renovation is completed, we are going to provide you with modern teaching equipment,” Gov. Gaidam promised. “Government will provide furniture for the newly renovated classrooms, hostels and laboratory equipment and all necessary needs to improve the quality of education in the state.
