Anambra APC aspirant Odedo steps down for Uba

A former House of Representatives member and ex-Chairman of the House Committee on Mass Mobilisation, Charles Odedo, has stepped down for Senator Andy Uba in the race for All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Anambra State.

The former lawmaker urged his supporters in Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituency that Uba was the only person who could win the governorship election.

Odedo, who declared his governorship ambition on July 10 ahead of the November 18 election, said he had weighed the options and found Uba better than other aspirants.

He was the third person to have withdrawn for Uba; others are former House of Representatives member, Ralph Okeke and APC’s Southeast Youth Leader, Paul Chukwuma.

Odedo said what the aspirants needed in APC was a consensus candidate to avoid rancour, which he said killed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said: “I am stopping my governorship campaigns today in Anambra State to support Senator Andy Uba with all my supporters.

“Idemili North and South boast 250,000 voters out of 21 local government areas in Anambra State and the highest. Therefore, if we give them to Uba, APC would win the election.

“We know also that we are going to contest against an incumbent governor in this state. With Uba against whoever, victory is assured for APC. But whether Odedo becomes governor or not, empowerment must continue.”
