Christian mothers, under the aegis of Wailing Women Worldwide (WWW), said yesterday they were seeking God’s intervention to stop cultism, kidnapping and other crimes.
The women, who spoke in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at the 17th international conference of the organisation, with the theme: “Thy Kingdom Come and Thy Will be Done”, said only God can restore peace.
The Head, International Coordinator, WWW, Dr. Laide Okafor, stressed the need for women to pray and intercede against vices, saying crime is ungodly.
She said: “Crime will be reduced when the spirit of God descends on our land, when men’s hearts are transformed. The people causing problems in our society do not know God.
“We want God to be pleased with Rivers State because there are many things that need to be changed. One of them is corruption, the other is insecurity. There are killings here and there. Cultism and kidnapping are rampant. We will pray to God to help us solve these problems.”
