A human rights activist, Ken Henshaw, has stated that the Nyesom Wike’s government in Rivers State has already failed.
The Port Harcourt-based activist stated this yesterday, while condemning the refusal of the Wike’s administration to make Rivers state’s 2016 and 2017 budgets public.
Henshaw said: “It is an insult and disservice to all citizens of a state (Rivers), if the government refuses to make the budgets openly available. Any talk of performance is irrelevant, if the government hides the budgets from the people.
“How do you measure performance, when there isn’t a benchmark to measure it against? No matter what the Rivers State government does, it has already failed, as long as it hides the budgets from the public.
“No citizen of Rivers State has seen neither the 2016 budget nor the 2017 budget. Corruption grows and thrives in secrecy.”
The Rivers chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), through its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, had earlier accused Wike of running the state as his private fiefdom.
