‘Attempt to balkanise Umueri has failed’

Umueri community in Anambra State is not balkanised, indigenes have said at a meeting with their traditional ruler, Igwe Ben Emeka, the Okebo 2 of Umueri.

They were led on the solidarity visit by Pius Nweke, chairman of Nneyi Umueri and Chief Vincent Okoye.

They declared their support for Igwe Ben Emeka as the Okebo 2 of Umueri.

Nweke assured him of support from the people of Nneyi Umueri and said the people of Nneyi Umueri did not support  any attempt to balkanise Umueri.

According to Nweke, the constitutional provision for the actualisation of autonomous community must be followed before any such can be acceptable to the people.

A highly elated Igwe Emeka thanked them for the solidarity.

He said he would ensure peace and harmony in Umueri and its neighbouring communities, urging them to continue to support the administration of Governor Willie Obiano.

The ruler admonished candidates for the November 18 governorship election to shun the campaign of calumny and engage in issues.
